The Rabbit Hole (Prototype)
The Rabbit Hole (Prototype)
An early-stage room-exploration prototype exploring what an accessible narrative game inspired by Ren's Sick Boi could look like — one small room per track, built around objects you examine rather than puzzles you solve.
What's playable right now
Two rooms out of a planned structure covering the record's tracklist:
- The Bedroom — four objects, each paired with a short two-voice dialogue exchange
- The Confessional (Track 01, Seven Sins) — seven objects, each a small original interpretation of a sin
A hub screen ties them together and shows which rooms are built vs. still to come.
Accessibility features included
- Full keyboard navigation — tab between interactive points, Enter/Space to interact
- Screen-reader labels on every interactive element
- A reduced-motion toggle (and automatic detection of your system preference)
- A large-text toggle
- Skippable, non-blocking content note (the source material touches on chronic illness and mental health)
This is a prototype, not a finished game — built to test whether the "one room per track" structure holds up before committing to the full record.
A note on process
This project was built with AI assistance (Claude) — layout, code, and accessibility scaffolding included. It hasn't yet been tested with a screen reader by an actual screen-reader user, so treat the accessibility features here as a first pass, not a verified standard. Feedback is very welcome.
